We had always dreamed of a backcountry ski-lift that's lightweight, can be setup and taken down in minutes and would lift 2 skiers all day long.

After 3 years of development and 4 prototypes, meet the Harpoon™.

A self-tailing winch coupled to the electronics and motorisation of an ultra-high performance electric skateboard. The result is engineering insanity and nervous giggles of excitement all the way up.

It's capable of hauling 2 heavy skiers for 1500m up the steepest line or 3000m up a green run at your local resort on a single battery charge. The battery is easily hot swappable in the field (extra battery sold separately). 

The Dyneema® Fiber rope (UHMWPE) has a polyester sleeve for high abrasion resistance. It yields the maximum in strength-to-weight ratio and is stronger than wire cable constructions. It's 1/7 the weight of a wire cable of the same strength, i.e. a cable of the same strength as the 10 lbs Harpoon rope weighs 70 lbs.

The Dyneema® rope floats, offers superior flexibility and stands up well to intensive use. The specific 4mm rope we use has an average strength of 1000lbs and our original ropes have held up very well in the 3 winters of tests they have endured.

Engineered to safely pull 800lbs, the Harpoon™ easily pulls 2 riders and has been designed so each rider never carries more than 10lbs of Harpoon™-related equipment in its backpack at any given time. The battery and Harpoon™ can be easily disconnected so when skiing down, their total weight can be split through both rider's backpacks.

After building a dozen different battery packs, we finally settled on a configuration that fits perfectly in the 904 Nanuk waterproof and shockproof case. This chosen configuration provides the lightest weight (the objective was 10.5lbs max) while packing the biggest punch. The electronic speed controller we use is the Lacroix Stormcore 100Dx which we developed internally and tested in the Lacroix e-skateboards for the past 3 years.
